Thane: A driver of a 25-year-old women’s rickshaw has been arrested allegedly because of kidnapping a three-year-old toddler from Kharegaon who was saved later by the city police within 12 hours.
The defendant was identified as Surjahan Shaikh, a resident of Baneli Village in Titwala.
The police said that toddlers were playing near the building in the Kharegaon area on Wednesday afternoon when he drifted away from his parents.
That’s when the woman kidnapped her and took her to Titwala.
Parents launch a panic search and then approach the local police station.
The police formed several teams, using CCTV recordings to find and arrest shaikh.
“The woman planned to use the child because of begging,” said a police officer.
