Thane / Nagpur: Thane police have registered a criminal case against the resident of Nagpur Sameet Thakkar to tweeting slandering / offending a message about NCP leader Nawab Malik and Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad.
On Friday, the Sitabuldi police team with Senior Inspector Atul Sabnis has landed at the Thakkar family residence at the Wathoda to record statements.
Brother Sameet, Rishi said the police wanted his younger brothers to get out of the house but succumbed after the former Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar pretended to take Sahet the next day.
“On Saturday around 180-200 police landed in our house, which was questioned,” he said.
Rishi added that a senior journalist issued a threat to his brother because “expose” a politician.
“Brother is an activist citizen and freelance journalist without party affiliation,” he said, adding that the sameet was being targeted to expose the truth and “black deeds” of some politicians in power, and Cricketers.
Nagpur Police Chief Amitesh Kumar said the city police only provided assistance to the Kalwa police team who visited Thakkar places to serve him for registration of a violation.
“The Nagpur police only accompanied a team from Kalwa,” Kumar said, adding that all steps taken in strict compliance with the law.
The source said Bawankule and BJP worker hordes reached Thakkar’s place when police Thane, together with the city police, went to his place to serve the notification.
The source added that Thane police were contemplating capturing Thakkar, who already had a violation similar to his name to target politicians on social media in the past.
Police Thane stirred after feeling BJP could use agitation, the source said.
A police officer said the violation was registered by one Dinesh Bane, who was a youth NCP functionary from the Kalwa-Mumbra assembly segment.
In his complaint, Bane said that around 3pm on Friday, he found a tweet “unpleasant” saneet.
The tweet was reportedly stated, “Mumbra Maharashtra Resident Sajjad Dhosi who was arrested in the case of Haul Medication Dwarka Gujarat with 88 CR drugs in the bag was the Ajudan Minister of Housing Maharashtra Jitendra Awhad.

The complainant added that there was currently a war of words between political parties and therefore the possibility that the tweet was posted with the intention of “creating more tension”.
The complainant is also called the “inciting” tweet.
A violation was registered at the Kalwa Police Station below Section 505 (2) for ‘statements that created or promote hostility, hatred or bad intentions between the class’, said Kaluwa Police Senior Inspector Awhad.
Furthermore, a Kalwa police team was sent to Nagpur with Nag Thakkar, but with BJP leaders allegedly refused, Thakkar was given a notification under the 41 CRPC section and asked to produce himself within five days before the Kalwa Police, said Awhad said.
