Thane: As many as 20 people from NCP and BJP were detained by the police, which clashed with each minister outside Jitendra Awhad housing staying other on Wednesday.
Among those detained, 15 came from NCP and 5 of the BJP, said a police officer and no case was submitted despite the increasing number of Covid-19 cases.
BJP workers protested a statement in the OBC community by the Jitendra Awhad Housing Minister.
Awhad in his remarks said that ‘Although the Mandal Commission held a reservation for OBC, community leaders were not in the field to fight because it seemed that the community did not want to struggle to secure their rights and it was Mahars and others Dalit who struggled.’ The statement did not go down with BJP and tension valid since Wednesday morning where a handful of BJP workers achieved living near the minister.
Within minutes, the large mass of NCP workers gathered and shouted slogans against each other.
An ambulance was blocked by protest by political workers.
Most political workers from both sides do not use masks or follow the guidelines of Covid-19.
The police were waiting for almost 15 NCP workers and 5 BJP workers and released some time later, a police officer said.
