Thane: a group of residents and trees lovers from the region the total collapsed crashes contrary to the impromptu campaign that reminds the Chipko movement on Sunday morning to save nearly 400 plus scheduled trees transferred or dressed for road widening projects along the stretch.
The group of Motley residents, including women and children said they were surprised after learning that around 431 trees, including some of the more than 50 years old would be transplanted elsewhere while some would be accessed to expand the existing colhet road.

Residents say the whole stretch of 1.5km long has one of the most dense green cover in the city and also has a rare tree of Urvashi (Amhersia Nobilis) from Burma, which is probably the only one in the entire city.
Residents said that even though the tree was not scheduled abandoned, it was still in danger because of construction work.
“We were told that the corporation planned to cut and transplanted around 431 trees to widen from the Kolshet road.
The plan is a disaster and we demand modification to protect the tree,” said Poornima Kagal, a participant.
