Thane: In two separate attacks, the Forest Division Thane arrested five people from Mumbai to deal with 27 kg Ambergris, also known as Pope vomiting, worth Rs 26 Crore.
Ambergris, a wax submerged by sperm whales, was found floating in the deep sea and used in the manufacture of perfumes and certain Aphrodisiacs.
The sperm whale is a protected species in accordance with the 1972 wildlife protection law, and maintains ambergris or other things related to endangered classes considered illegal, said forest officials.
