Thane: Senior citizens lose Rs 6.25l to fraudsters online

Thane: a senior citizen in Thane City lost Rs 6.25 Lakh to the online fraudster who asked him to recharge his cellphone connection by transferring Rs 11 through a link so that the SIM card was not blocked, police said on Sunday.
The man, who could not receive refills through a link, called the fraudsters who gave him another link, which allowed the last to get access to the victim’s telephone, using what he made an online transfer of Rs 6.25 Lakh, said an official.
The incident took place on July 26 this year, but a complaint was submitted to Kalwa police on Saturday, and a case under the IPC and the provisions of the Information Technology Act Registered, said Jaimave City Police Police said.
The probe is ongoing but no arrest has been made so far, he added.
