Thane: A 13-year-old boy was sunk while swimming in a lake in Maharashtra Thane District, a police officer said on Tuesday.
The incident took place on Monday when the boy went to Lake Varhaladevi in the city of Bhiwandi here with his uncle to wash clothes, he said.
While his uncle was busy washing clothes, the boy entered the lake to swim and sink, the official said.
Some other people were present at the place to try to save him, but in vain.
After being told, the police and fire personnel rushed to the place.
The body was fishing at night and sent for postmortem, the official said.
The police have registered cases of unintentional death, he added.
