Kalyan: A newly married man has been arrested for allegedly strangling his wife in their rented house in Ambernath.
Suraj Kharat (29) suspects his wife, Kajal Nikeseaje (26) involved with other men, officials of the Ulhasnagar Police Unit Thane said on Saturday, adding that he even set a corpse.
Police officials said the incident was revealed on August 22 at Gaikwad on Locality when the rental house owner found a stench from the house.
The owner warned the officials of the Shivaji Nagar police station about the same thing.
The police found Kajal’s body that decomposed at home.
A post-mortem revealed he had been killed.
Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Tarde said, “We know that Kajal has recently married a missing Suraj.” He is tracked and interrogated.
“He claimed to kill Kajal when he suspected his cheat,” Tarde said.
