Thane: Two captured by drugs worth Rs 8 lakh

Thane: Two alleged drugs have been captured by Thane’s crime branch to smuggle nearly 34 kg of marijuana worth Rs 8.5 lakh on Thursday.
The police said that those who were arrested were identified as prashant nayak 30 residents of Ganjam Regency in Orissa while others were accused of being identified as Arman Patel 38, a resident of Badlapur-Shil Jalan, said Senior Inspector who Vikas Ghodke Branch Crime Unit-5.
A police officer was told that immediately after opening in a more relaxed state, anti-social elements could take advantage of it, senior police officers had instructed all police staff to stay guard and take action on them.
The police said that they had a tip-off that two people would come with a consignment and therefore, the police put a trap in a certain place where the crime branch detective was waiting.
The duo came with a bag and it was then their detective intercepted and after carrying out the search found 34 kg of marijuana which was worth RS 8.54 lakh on the market.
“It seems that the source of marijuana is from Orissa and then we verify the link and to whom they will sell it,” said Ghodke.
A case has been registered with the Kasarawadwali police station.
Under NDPS action section 8 (a), 20 (a), 29 of the NDPS law.
The police said that the defendant was produced in court and was handed over to police custody until September 9 during the ther further investigation.
