Thane: a man from Thane and a woman from Mumbai was arrested for allegedly deceiving a fair shop owner with a pose as a government official, said the police on Sunday.
Both of them came from Mira Road and Santa Cruz, had gone to a fair price store on November 5 and demanded to see retail books and other documents, said a Navghar police station official.
“The Duo demanded Rs 50,000 from FPS owners because they did not take action on alleged irregularities in books.
The shopkeeper, who gave them Rs 20,000 at the time, submitted a complaint on Friday.
The defendant who was arrested was identified as Shabanobano Siddiqui and Prashant Vishnu , “he said.
