Thane: A 12-year-old boy from Shastri Nagar and his 15-year-old cousin who came to visit from their original place at Uttar Pradesh, died with a drowning in the pool in the Rambag area in Vartak Nagar Ward, civil information informed on Saturday.
According to Santosh Kadam, the head of the regional disaster management cell in Thane Corporation, the boys seemed to slip out of their home Saturday morning and decided to swim in the neighborhood pool.
The 15-year-old cousin came to visit two more days, officials said.
The children were not disturbed and entered the waters, which were popular among the locals, without measuring the depth and began to sink.
People who passed the alarm after the rescue team was called to the place and the diver team entered muddy waters and fishing on Saturday afternoon.
Police Vartak Nagar has sent a corpse for post mortem and an accidental case can be registered, officials who add them can investigate this case if the family suspects something wrong.
