Thane: Two villagers were arrested for attacking a couple during a visit to the poor Haji Temple

Thane: The police on Thursday arrested two villagers and detained three teenagers for allegedly attacking two young couples during their visit to Malang Hajj Temple in the Thane Maharashtra district, an official said.
The couples were allegedly beaten by a group of villagers during their visit to the hilltop temple in Kalyan on Sunday.
The victims, in their complaints, had claimed they were attacked by villagers because they were wearing shorts and traveled to the temple despite a ban on the district government.
Four days after the incident, police Bukit Police arrested two villagers and also detained three teenagers (not disclosed), the official said.
Criminal cases under the relevant parts of the IPC are related to persecution, attacks and threats registered in about half a dozen people on Tuesday.
One of the victims, a woman, told the police, the villagers were annoyed because they were wearing shorts.
Police on Wednesday said they were investigating this claim.
The movement of people in 1 km where a picnic in the Thane District has been banned by collectors considering the incident that sank during the rainy season and also because of the coronavirus pandemic.
