Bhavani Devi made history when he became the first Indian who qualified for the Olympic fence.
He bowed from the Quadrennial exhibition after Round 32 lost on Monday, but Chennai’s girl had really become an ambassador to sports in India.
During his Olympic debut, Bhavani, competing in the category of women’s saber, won the match 64, blew Ben Azizi Nadia from Tunisia in more than six minutes.
The win saw Bhavani’s trend on social media for a while when a nation almost woke up for sports.
However, World No.
3 France Manon Brunet is too strong for him in round 32, because Bhavani loses 7-15.
“I can do much better in the first half against Brunet.
In the second half, I made some changes and did everything I could but it was too late.
He is one of the best fraudsters in the world and I am happy to have given the best to fight it,” Bhavani said to Ti.
For Bhavani, entering the arena for its opening game is a feeling that cannot be expressed in words.
“It’s beautiful to be part of the Olympics and soak in the atmosphere.
But I quickly handled it and began to concentrate on the match,” he said.
The height may be short, but Bhavani feels this experience will stand in trouble for future competitions.
“I have done some areas in recent months and will continue to be included in hard work.
The Tokyo Olympic experience has made me more motivated, more determined to push myself harder in the future to bring victory to India,” Bhavani said.
He hopes that the fence will be taken by more people in the coming years.
“This is a sport where our country can do well.
There is a lot of support from the federation and from the government,” Bhavani said, which comes from a simple background.
The late father C Sundararamana was a priest and Mrs.
Ramani a housewife and she took sports accidentally at school and had not looked back since then.
