New Delhi: American American American Giant has thrown heavy behind the rules of new IT in India, and has said that they “make sense” while empowering users and limiting their harassment on social media, India Mohjit Mohan has told TII.
New affirmations came a few months after the company signaled the government’s steps to formulate policies and rules around the moderation of content as “legitimate supervision”, where it also emphasized that respect for Indian law “cannot be negotiable”.
In his first reaction to new IT guidelines because the wider provisions come into force since May 26, Mohan said, “The Government (India) wants to limit the misuse and misuse of social media platforms by bad actors, and that is the agenda we are fully aligned with.” His view reflects the statement and Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, who also insisted that IT rules “empower social media users when they become victims of abuse and abuse”.
