Bhubaneswar: A 13-year-old boy, a resident of Sailashree Vihar, is believed to be the first joint death in the city this season even though the city authority said death would not be taken as a confirmation detected through a quick test and not the Elisa test.
The city health authority said the boy was received dead at a private hospital on Monday.
He has suspected the case of dengue fever because his family members carry a quick test report with them.
“The patient’s relatives showed a dengue quick test report, which was positive, during the hospital admission.
The hospital authority told us.
But with sure, we had sent a team to the boy’s house.
Other family members will undergo Elisa test,” said Interyamami Mishra, Urban Urban Public Health Officer (Adupho) additional.
He said the boy had other medical conditions too.
With dengue fever spread to the new area here, the number of people infected is now 391 until Monday night.
Sailashree Vihar, Niladri Vihar, Pati and several parts of Chandrasekharpur, areas under the northern zone of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), reported dengue cases three weeks ago.
But spread to other areas very quickly even when BMC continues to dismantle at least 30 sources of dengue breeding regularly.
With 30 new cases on Tuesday, cumulative dengue cases in the city rose to 421.
With Covid more than worries, the spread of dengue fever seems to be a difficult challenge for city authorities.
In 2018, the case of dengue fever had crossed 1000.
But last year, when the pandemic broke, the city barely reported dengue cases.
With Covid’s case, the monsoon has brought a dengue fever infection.
Drive active awareness.
“People need to make sure they don’t make water stagnant at home or outside when they lead to mosquito breeding.
Authority is fully directed to face threats but people must show responsible behavior,” Mishra added.
