The 2011 Pact will guide Afghan’s ‘Military’ bond: India

New Delhi: Ahead of the visit of the Afghan army visit Wali Mohammad Ahmadzai to India next week, the government said that the relationship with Afghanistan would be guided by the 2011 strategic partnership agreement (SpA).
Ahmadzai will reach India on July 27.

The agreement said: “India agreed to assist in training, complement and build program capacity for Afghan national security forces.” In other words, India will, if asked, continued – or even improve – military support given to Afghanistan.
So far, India has given four helicopters of MI-35 attacks to Afghanistan; Four MI-35 was repaired and updated by Belarus, and three cheetah helicopters.
At this point, when the future of the battle between the Andsf and Taliban will depend on who provides superior air power, Afghanistan is looking for all the help he can get.
Indian capabilities to help increase Afghan air capacity is limited.
“If we don’t get to the stage in the peace process with the Taliban, then maybe a time (will come) where we will seek Indian military assistance,” Farid Mamundzay, Afghan Ambassador to India, recently told NDTV.
MEA spokesman said on Thursday, “India supports the government and the people of Afghan in realizing their aspirations for a peaceful, democratic and prosperous future in which the interests of all parts of the Afghanistan society are protected.” MEA also said Thursday that they did not know the existence of an invitation by Russia for India to join the Russian-Chinese Troika meeting which also included Pakistan.
