Ranchi: A 36-year-old woman from Jamshedpur died of mucormycosis at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Ranchi on Wednesday.
Dr.
D K Sinha, the Public Relations Rims officer, said the patient was treated in the dengue ward at the hospital on December 21.
“However, his condition deteriorated and he shifted to the trauma center at night.
The doctors tried to turn him back on, but he died around 12:20 on Wednesday,” Sinha.
The woman, a resident of Block Chowk in Jamshedpur, has a underlying disease such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
After complaining of headaches for almost a month, he was taken to the main hospital for the diagnosis where he was tested for mukormycosis and referred to the rim, his husband said Sitaram Pandey.
The eyes of swollen patients and infections have spread in their brains, said the doctor in the rims.
With his death, the number of Jharkhand deaths because mukormycosis rose to 32.
The last death recorded because mukormycosis was reported on July 13 this year where two patients from Garhwa surrendered to the disease.
More than 170 patients have been detected with mukormycosis in Jharkhand so far.
