Nagpur: Comprehensive comparative study of more than 1,763 patients from Covid-19 treated for two waves of pandemic in the last 18 months at the Krims Hospital in Nagpur has indicated the third wave, if it would be the shortest of the three.
In connection with the general perception that the wave will target the child’s population, Dr.
Ashok Arbat, Senior Pulmonologist and Director of Creams, said the elderly people who have not resolved their vaccination will be more risky in the third wave.
“I see many parents, especially from the edges, who have not been vaccinated.
Not children, but these senior citizens will suffer if the third wave hit,” said Dr.
Arbat.
The 40-year-old hospital dedicated to the treatment of lung-related diseases has analyzed data from more than 1,700 cases in Central India in detail, providing scientific documentation from pandemics.
Analysis has provided many surprising results, such as mortality in the first wave of higher than in the second wave.
“Even though there are more deaths in the second wave, the mortality rate is lower than the first,” said Dr.
Arbat.
According to research, patients with hypertension and diabetes are the worst patients during both waves.
“About 65% of patients have hypertension and diabetes, which means this is the highest risk factor.
In the second wave, the lungs targeted by the virus and pneumonia are linked to many people with BP and sugar,” said Dr.
Arbat said.
Predict that the third wave will not be very severe, Dr.
Arbat said very few people will reach a hospital or test center.
“The majority of patients will recover without symptoms.
Some will be fine after taking over-the-counter drugs.
Only a few will see the doctor, and even fewer will be used.
The surge will be very limited if we stop testing asymptomatic people , and only test those who have several symptoms, “said Dr.
Arbat.
However, government policy is to test all high and low contacts from each positive patient.
Creams are the only tertiary care center in Pulmonology in Central India, where Covid-19 patients are managed by pulmonologologists from Ashok Arbat, Dr.
Sameer Arbat, Dr.
Parimal Deshpande, Dr.
Swapnil Bakamwar, and Dr Dresses Ghadge.
