Jaipur: The fourth pillar of democracy was under pressure because it was not permitted to work independently in this country, said Minister of Ashok Gehlot on Thursday while speaking at the Jurnenting University Foundation Ceremony of Jurnenting Journalism and Mass Communication (HJU).
Gehlot said for healthy democracy, the media must play a free and fair role.
He said, “The difference in opinion and criticism has an important place in democracy.
Healthy criticism by the media in public interest allows the government to introspect and improve their functions.” The state government has provided around 1.24 lakh sqm on Dahmi Kalan on Jalan Ajmer and prepared a project worth RS 328 Crore to develop campus.
Gehlot said to strengthen journalism and provide opportunities for young people, during the previous term, two universities were established, HJU and Dr.
Bhimrao Ambedkar Law University.
Unfortunately CM said the two universities were closed during the BJP term.
As soon as the current government is formed, it is decided to rebuild them through an action.
He said that the government continued to change, but decisions taken in public interest should not change.
Gehlot said in the first phase, RS 115 Crore will be spent on the construction of its main building.
He expressed hope that the construction would be completed before the time determined 18 months and the university ran in a temporary building to shift to the building.
The Minister of Public Works Bhajanlal Jatav said clearly from the establishment of HJU and Dr.
Ambedkar Law University that CM has maintained its most important commitment.
The Public Works Department will complete the earliest university construction work.
The State Minister for Higher Education Rajendra Singh Yadav said journalism as the fourth pillar of democracy would prosper from this university.
Chancellor’s representative university, Om Thanvi, said it was only due to the determination of CM that the university could be re-established.
He said that this university curriculum was unique in many ways.
