Pune: Unit Pune Of The Highway Safety Patrol (HSP) Pernecoki Driving is not safe on the Pune-Mumbai toll road during a three-month special drive.
Drive, which was held from August to October, focused on enforcing the discipline of lanes and punishing the wrong driver on the stretch of 40 km between Kiwale and Amrutanjan Bridge.
During the drive, HSP was fined 6,255 heavy vehicle RS1,000 each for the deduction of routes and 69,000 motorists – especially cars and motorized commercial vehicles – to speed up.
Lane-cutting invited a fine of RS500, but HSP occupies charges of driving a rash when the driver often cuts the path without a signal.
Additional fees attract the RS500 fine, said HSP official.
An official of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), who controlled the toll road, said 55,000-60,000 vehicles used toll roads per day and 55% of this was a light motorized vehicle.
“The number of heavy vehicles fined for cutting lines may seem small in the context of the whole number using the toll road every day, but this is often responsible for causing accidents or endangering the lives of other toll road users as they move from one path to others without signaling Or observe path discipline, “said Sanjay Jadhav, Pune HSP police supervisor, said.
Jadhav said it was impossible for HSP to send personnel to all high-speed corridors but said there would be a sustainable action against a perverted driver.
The heavy vehicle should be driving on the third line – or left from the toll road and cannot move to the middle or first lane.
However, the driver often says this norm and causes traffic and accidents.
Following a special drive, HSP has increased monitoring by his cellular team in Khandala and Wadgaon, and the announcement is being carried out through the PA system in Toll Plaazas, Jadhav said.
Light motorized vehicles and heavy vehicles should comply with the speed limit of 100kmph and 80kmph, respectively.
An interesting violation of RS1,000 fine.
“If the path discipline is not followed, it will invite accidents and traffic congestion.
We found that smaller vehicles, such as cars and SUVs, replaced the path on viewing heavy vehicles on the first or second path.
Sometimes, cars and SUVs even left To the shoulder path to catch a heavy vehicle.
This is unacceptable in any situation, “he said.
“The shoulder lanes can be used by motorists only if the vehicle is damaged or in the case of flat tires.
Many accidents have occurred on the shoulder path involving the car and SUV when they hit a stationary vehicle while overtaking heavy vehicles that occupy the three paths,” he said.
