Manipal: The organs of a 57-year-old brain die woman who met the accident at Karnataka’s Davanagere, was successfully harvested at Kasturba Hospital on Tuesday.
The hospital stated that after a road accident that occurred at 4 pm on Saturday in Gummanur Road, Gudalu Village, near Davangere, Indiramma B M, wife Nanjundappa H n, was treated at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, the next day.
He was seriously injured and taken to the hospital for further treatment.
Even though there was a doctor’s effort to save him, his prognosis was bad, and he did not show signs of recovery.
Indramma was declared dead brain by the doctor twice officially, at a six-hour interval, at 10:29 a.m.
and 4.53 afternoon on Monday, under the protocol and procedure of the Human Rights Act.
Furthermore, the patient’s husband, Nanjundappa H N, stated the willingness to contribute decent organs such as heart and heart valves, two kidneys and two corneas, which were harvested, and helped save six people.
In accordance with the Jeevasarthakath protocol, two corneas and kidneys are maintained by the Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, for registered patients, kidneys sent to Yenepoya Hospital, Mangaluru and the heart and heart valves were sent to MGM hospital patients, Chennai.
Nanjavelppa said, “organ donations are the noble causes, and my wife has committed great deeds even in her death.” Medical Inspector Dr Avinash Shetty said, “Organ donations help save lives.” He thanked the Indramma family for making a decision to donate his organs.
The harvested organs are transferred to all recipient hospitals, with the support of the Udupi district police, from Manipal.
