The active case of TN fell below 20K after 140 days

Chennai: new cases throughout the country fell to 1,702 on Thursday, when cases in all districts fell below 200 and active cases fell below the 20,000 mark to 19,864 after almost 140 days.
The state added 29 deaths to the registry, pushing the cumulative death to 34.639 and calculating cases to 25.95lakh.
On April 2, Tamil Nadu has 18,606 people in treatment for viral infections, when the country reported 3,290 new cases.
Since then, active cases rose quickly to more than 3.13 lakh on May 27.
By falling in new cases, active cases began to fall and on June 8 were locked up to 2.18 lakh.
It dropped below 1 lakh on June 18, when there were 89,009 people under care and on July 15, it fell to 29,230.
Although there was a decrease in the overall case, 10 districts showed a marginal increase between 1 and 4 cases, while 22 other districts showed a marginal decline of up to 7 cases.
Coimbatore (198) who reported the highest number of cases saw a sharp decline of 12 cases from 210 cases reported on Wednesday.
Chennai reported 193 cases compared to 198 Wednesday.
The sharpest increase in the reported case from Tiruvannamalai, where cases increased from 33 to 37 during the same period of time.
While 16 districts reported less than 25 cases, five districts had less than 10 cases.
The number of cases is the least reported by Ramanathapuram (3) followed by VIUDHUNAGAR (4).
“Different studies show us that Delta variant is dominant in the second wave.
While vaccination can reduce hospitalization and death, we cannot stop transmissions without masks or social blasphemy norms.
Even those who are vaccinated can be infected if they drop the guard,” said Public Health Director Dr.
TS Selvavinayagam.
Of the 29 deaths, Coimbatore reported 5 followed by four in Chennai and three of each in Tiruppur, Trichy and Tirurvarur.
While Tirupathur reported two deaths, nine other districts respectively reported one death.
