Madurai / Trichy The number of Active Covid-19 cases in Madurai fell below 150 after 268 days on Thursday.
Even when the district recorded 11 new cases against 14 recovery, active cases established in 142.
In Trichy, new cases rose below 30, while two districts in the central region recorded new cases.
Trichy recorded 29 new cases, 407 cases were active and no death, thus maintaining the cumulative death toll at 1.060.
The death of a 82-year-old man with comorbidity was the only victim in Madurai Regency and no death recorded in the other nine southern districts that day.
The southern region registered 77 new cases that day, against 84 recovery.
Kanyakumari (19) noted the highest, followed by Madurai (11) and Tirunelveli (10) while other districts recorded less than 10.
Ramanathapuram recorded a Nile for the first time since March 16 (4), Dindigul (4), Tenkasi (5) , Sivaganga (8), Virudhunagar (9) and Tuticorin (9) are other districts with less than 10 cases on Friday.
The number of active cases in this region fell to 954.
The central region posted 114 new cases and 1,701 active cases even when it took 159 patients.
The death toll touched 4,430 with three more victims in Karur, Nagapattinam and Tiruvarur.
Trichy Regency has so far have 77,693 Covid-19 cases including 76,226 while the central region has seen a total of 3,22,581 positive cases and 3.16,450 release.
