Nagpur: After launching a Covid-19 vaccine for the teenage age group last Monday, the government will begin a dose of booster for health workers and senior citizens from today.
Called ‘caution doses’ by the government, the third dose is allowed from January 10 to people over 60 years with comorbidity.
The third dose must be taken 9 months or 39 weeks after the second dose.
Initially, most doctors, health workers, and frontline workers would be eligible for it.
Some senior citizens who are early birds will also get the third dose of today.
Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has made all preparations for vaccination.
A total of 119 centers has been selected for the third dose of Covishield while 29 will provide a third dose of covaxin.
There has been no mixed policy in the third dose, so the beneficiaries must take the same vaccine they received as the first and second dose.
Administration also clarified confusion about the presentation of a comorbidity certificate from a qualified doctor to get a vaccine.
No need for senior citizens to bring any certificates or recipes to show that they have co-morbidity.
Simple online registration and booking slots will be made.
However, consult a doctor treats you once before going to get the vaccine suggested.
As far as regarding Nagpur, slots for online bookings are available in many centers even at 10pm on Sundays.
Slots are also available for Tuesday and Wednesday in many centers on the co-win platform.
Commissioner of the city of Radhakrishnan B and Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari appealed to senior citizens to get the third dose and when they became qualified.
“It has been scientifically proven that the third dose increases protection against viruses.
We are at an important stage of the third wave, and we must protect life,” said Tiwari.
In accordance with official data, nearly 20 senior Lakh and HCW residents will be eligible for the third dose, including 3 lakh from Nagpur Regency.
But they will not fulfill the requirements on January 10, because of the 9 months or 39 weeks recommended after the second dose.
The doctor has asked the elementary to vaccinate.
“Those who meet the requirements must go without hesitation and get the third dose.
This actually completes the vaccine schedule,” said a specialist from Nitin Shinde’s infectious disease.
