Doha: Political leaders have flocked to Doha and some countries have transferred their kabul embassies to Qatar, all praising their hosts because of their main role in Airlift from the Afghan capital.
Tiny Qatar has confiscated the moment, strengthening the influence and reputation of Global Outsize as a neutral mediator after winning the trust of all sides in the Afghan war forever.
Qatar invited the Taliban to open a political office in Doha in 2013, at that time US President Barack blessed as a conflict in Afghanistan rampage.
It happened on the host discussion between Washington and Taliban which concluded in 2020 with a troop withdrawal agreement, followed by direct negotiations between former guerrillas and the Afghan government.
The old Doha’s old hotline for the Taliban finally helped Qatar explode to the world stage as Lynchpin from an effort to evacuate a desperate Afghanistan and foreigners – and now the urge to reopen the Kabul Airport.
“Qatar has gained a reputation as an honest broker who is willing to help multiple siding on finding ways to end this conflict,” said Colin Clarke, a senior romance at the center of the Soufan.
“I think Qatar what comes out of it is a developing recognition that Doha is the place to make a deal.
It has grown to Geneva Middle East, a place where conflicting parties can meet in the neutral area.” A little more than a week, the Arabian desert peninsula will welcome Germany foreign ministers, the Netherlands, Italy, England and the US.
US Secretary Antony Blinken, due in Doha on Monday, has stated “deep thanks” to evacuate foreigners Qatar and Afghans who are susceptible to retaliation from the hardline of Islamists.
British foreign secretary Dominic Raab praised Airlift dramatically, where Doha has served as the main transit stop, by saying “the biggest operation of its kind in our lives (is) no small portion of our Qatar friends cooperation”.
While in Doha, where England has relocated his Kabul embassy, Raab describes Qatar as a “influential player” and his ruler Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani as “friend”.
The Gulf Country has worked with the Taliban to quickly reopen Kabul airport, closed since the departure of US troops, and hopes to see the formation of a humanitarian aid corridor.
At the peak of the evacuation operation, the Qatar ambassador to Afghanistan personally escorted Americans and vulnerable Afghanistan to the airport.
His efforts to accompany a number of young Afghan women, for whom access to education under the Taliban is not guaranteed, seen as a strong movement.
The increase in Qatar’s meteoric in the world stage is increasingly striking because until January, the emirates who are rich in gas are in echoes with their neighbors.
Saudi Arabia, along with UAE, Bahrain and Egypt, cut bonds with Doha in 2017, accused him of supporting Islamic and Iranian groups, Qatar’s accusations were rejected.
Apart from the regional rehabilitation on the January Summit, the role of Qatar that grows not without challenges.
The online French intelligence website claims Senior Commander Qatar “will be convinced about the willingness of Pashtun rebels to share power” with the current government rolled over.
“Doha has witnessed surprisingly the total termination between the promises of political representatives (from the Taliban) in exile and reality in the field.” Some observers have also asked questions about the longevity of Qatar’s influence to the spectacular Taliban victory.
David Roberts, a professor of Associate at King’s College London, questioned whether the Taliban negotiator in Doha “will be able to maintain important places in the Taliban apparatus at home, and whether they will have control”.
“It will be the limit of Qatar Endgame,” he told AFP.
“I imagine that telephone calls between Washington, DC and Doha have been hot hot in the past few days.
Equipment in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Pentagon, they know that Qatar now has a year of contact with potentially used and leveraged.” However, by recording skeptics, Michael Rubin, a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, accused Doha providing the Taliban with international legitimacy and access to international finance.
“There is a limit on the influence of Qatar,” he said.
“Attention can be addicted, and Qatar both addicts for attention and a country in the search for relevance.”
