New Delhi: In the midst of an ongoing evacuation from Afghanistan, Union Minister HardeeP Singh Puri said on Sunday that the problems faced by the Sikh and Hindu communities showed why the enactment of the citizenship amendment law was needed.
“Recent developments in our volatile environment & the way Sikhs & Hinduism experience a terrible time why it is necessary to enforce the citizenship amendment law,” Puri Tweeted.
On Sunday, 168 people included 28 Afghan citizens and two senators landed in India in special Indian air airforts.
The government has promised to help Hindus and Sikh from Afghanistan, and his friends in the country who need help.
Previously, Punjab CM Amarinder Singh said he was pleased that 209 Indian citizens were safely evacuated and flown to Delhi, along with other Evakakares, including 24 Sikh Afghanistan.
“I have been told MAA is working on the evacuation of 222 Sikh and other Hindu Afghanistans.
Pray for all safety,” he said.
CAA, who entered to force in January last year, gave citizenship for non-Muslim minorities from Muslim majority countries such as Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
