Lahore: The ODI series of three Afghan matches against Pakistan has been moved from Hambantota Sri Lanka to Pakistan because of the logistical challenges in the course of the Afghan team.
CEO of Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) Hamid Shinwari confirmed the ODI series shift to Espncricinfo.
There were no commercial flights that took off from Kabul after the Taliban takeover of the country and Sri Lanka announced the locking of 10 days on Friday, two days after the country reported 3,793 new cases and deaths in 187 years.
All three matches in the series between Afghanistan and Pakistan will be played in Hambantota and involve the quarantine period three days on arrival for both parties.
The Afghan team will now travel to Pakistan this weekend and ACB has not announced the Venue for ODI starting 3.
September, Sunday, Azizullah Fazli was reappointed as the new chairman of the Afghan cricket board (ACB).
Fazli has served a term as an ACB chairman, from its appointment in September 2018 – after the resignation of Atif Mashal – until July 2019, when he was replaced by Farhan Yusufzai after completing under Afghanistan at the 2019 World Cup in England.
His appointment came a week after the Taliban won control over Kabul and the collapse of the government with President Ashraf Ghani escaped from the country.
