Gurugram: Air quality in Gurugram again sneaks into the ‘very poor’ category because of low wind speed.
Aqi jumped to 327 on Monday from 287 in the ‘poor’ category on Sunday.
Officials with the state pollution control agency Haryana (HSPCB) said that AQI might reach a higher end of the ‘very poor’ category in the next three days.
On Monday, the city recorded a wind speed of 3 km / hour, a massive decrease from 8km / hour, the previous day.
The four air monitoring stations registers ‘very poor’ air quality on Monday.
Vikas Sadan recorded the highest AQI of 351, followed by sector 51, which recorded AQI 348.
The quiet local wind prevents dispersion of pollutants, according to HSPCB.
“We have a meeting tomorrow (Tuesday) with the Indian government, where we will take some more decisions on how to reduce air pollution in the region,” said S Narayan, member secretary, HSPCB.
Meanwhile, the air quality system and weather forecasting and research (Safar) predicted that AQI would deteriorate from the night of November 16 because of the condition of quiet wind and reach the top end of the ‘very poor’ category on November 17.
According to the Indian Meteorology Department (IMD), Gurugram recorded a minimum temperature of 11.3 degrees Celsius on Monday.
