Varanasi: City air has changed very polluted after the celebration of Diwali on Thursday.
The climate agenda, NGOs working on air and environmental pollution issues, released post-diving air quality reports on Saturday.
According to ETTA Shekhar from the climate agenda, air quality monitoring was carried out in ten different city areas, starting 2AM at night until 8am the next morning, with the help of low-cost air quality monitoring devices.
On this basis for monitoring, Shivpur, Sonarpura, Pandeypur, and Madigin are the most polluted areas, while Ravindrapuri and Lanka regions remain relatively clean.
“Like last year, this year PM10 is the main pollutant in Diwali,” said Ekta, added that PM10 in the Shivpur area reached a maximum number of 798 units per cubic meter which was 8 times more polluted from the permitted level.
The level of PM 2.5 was found 401 in this area, which was 6.5 times more polluted than the level allowed.
Thus PM PM and PM 2.5 found 7 and 6 times more contaminated in Sonarpura.
The third place in the most pollution is the Pandeypur area, which is almost 7 times (PM 10), and 6 times (PM 2.5) is more polluted than the permitted level.
