New Delhi: Amazon.com Inc.
plans to rent 55,000 people for the role of corporate and technology globally in the coming months, Andy Jassy’s chief executive told Reuters.
It was equal to more than a third of Google’s headcount on June 30, and close to all Facebook.
Jassy, in his first press interview since he climbed to the Top Amazon post in July, said the company needed more shooting power to follow demand in retail, clouds and advertising, among other businesses.
He said the company’s new bet to launch satellites to orbit to expand broadband access, called the Kuiper Project, will require many new employees too.
With the Amazon annual work exhibition scheduled for September 15, Jassy hopes now is the right time to recruit.
“There is so much work during a pandemic that has been moved or has been changed, and there are so many people who think about different and new jobs,” Jassy said, who quoted a US survey from the PWC desired by 65% of workers.
New show.
“It’s part of what we think of making a ‘career day’ so on time and very useful,” he said.
New recruitment will represent a 20% increase in Amazon staff and company staff, which currently number around 275,000 globally, the company said.
Moving Amazon, only the latest recruitment that has begun, follows a period of high supervision of labor and opposition practices by the Brotherhood of the International Team.
Earlier this year, efforts failed by several staff in Alabama to arrange places the work of Amazon tax warehouse and aggressive attitude towards trade unions.
In the battle, Jeff Bezos, the CEO Jassy was successful, said Amazon needed a better vision for employees.
Asked how he could change the culture of the demanding Amazon workplace, Jassy said the focus on the customer and the discovery arranged it for improvement.
“Everyone in the company has freedom – and really, hope – to see how it can be better and then create a way to make it better.” Amazon’s position is marketing including engineering, research science and the role of robotics, posts that are mostly new for companies than other jobs, he said.
In the US economy that reopens, and tightens the labor market, some companies have struggled to fill vacancies and remote self-balancing and direct work.
It’s not clear how much Amazon’s work – like for competitive engineering – has been open for some time.
Amazon, who previously touted “office-centric culture,” then calls back his vision and offers workers the opportunity to spend just three days a week in his office starting next year.
Already the second largest private employer in the United States, Amazon brought more than 500,000 people in 2020, mostly in warehouses and shipping operations.
The area has a significant turnover.
This company invests a lot in building more warehouses and increases salaries to attract workers, to pursue strong demand from buyers who are looking for products sent to their homes.
Jassy said Amazon had been “very competitive on the compensation side.” He said, “We have led with a minimum wage of $ 15,” and for some countries at the average “really, the initial salary is $ 17 per hour.” Of the more than 55,000 Jassy’s work announced, more than 40,000 will be in the United States, while others will be in countries such as India, Germany and Japan.
The previous Amazon promised a large technology recruitment party in 2017, when it was looking for a location for the second headquarters.
Officials in cities and states throughout North America refer to the company for the work and tax dollar.
Arlington, Virginia, winner of the contest “HQ2” that has so far have a small portion of the 25,000 roles that have been promised by Amazon for a decade, currently has around 2,800 openings.
The city of Bellevue where Amazon grew near his hometown Seattle had 2,000 other.
Career exhibition will be global.
After Amazon saw 22,000 people listening to last year from India, among local-local outside the United States, said Jassy.
