Bengaluru: The Karnataka Department of Transportation confiscated seven luxury cars, including Rolls-Royce Phantom before used by Amitabh Bachchan’s actor, in a special attack near UB City on Sunday.
Raid at Vittal Malla Road began at around 4pm and captured several top-end cars, including Land Rover, Porche and Jaguar, some of them parked in UB City.
Officials said that the cars were confiscated because of plying without paying taxes, the lack of documentation and the right insurance.
Of the seven vehicles, five are registered in Puducherry, where road tax is lacking, and two in Maharashtra.
Insurance has expired in most cars, officials said.
“People who drive Rolls-Royce Phantom (MH 02 Bb 2) are identified as Salman Khan, who are around 35 years old and come from Vasanthnagar.
His father was reported to buy a car from Bachchan,” said L Narendra Holkar, an additional transportation commissioner (enforcement).
Rolls White Royce Phantom was given a Bollywood star by Vidhu Vinod Chopra filmmaker about the success of the film, ‘Eklavya’, in 2007.
Bachchan reportedly sold it to Yusuf Shariff aka D Babu from the developer of Umrah in 2019 but the car still entered the name of the actor, the official said.
The source said the Rolls-Royce was bought by Babu but his ownership was reported not transferred from the name Bachchan.
However, there are no vehicle details on the Vahan-4 portal.
Babu told reporters that he had directly bought a car from Bachchan.
“My family members use it on Sunday.
They took my vehicle along with other luxury vehicles.
They told me that they would let go when I sent a vehicle document.
The vehicle is still in the name Bachchan,” he said.
Confirm that the vehicle is still in the name of Bachchan, Holkar said, “A vehicle is not allowed to stab with the registration number of other countries outside 11 months from the date of migration.
But this car was bought from Bachchan on February 27, 2019.
Babu told us that he paid around Rs 6 Crore for the car.
He did not have the vehicle document needed.
However, he produced a letter signed by Bachchan who stated that the vehicle was sold to him.
“Holkar said time would be given to produce valid documents and if they failed to do it,” us will decide next action “.
On Monday, three car owners produce documents and update their staged insurance and we will give them a vehicle on Tuesday, “Holkdar said.” The Supreme Court has repeatedly said that driving vehicles without insurance is illegal.
Most of these vehicles are registered in other states.
All cars confiscated are now in the regional transportation office of Nelamangala.
