The Arab Community of Closit-knitted makes Hyd home since the 17th century

Hyderabad: From Yemen and Saudi Arabia, the families of Arabia in the old city called the barkas their home when the community more than three lakh people continued to live there since the 17th century.
Living four kilometers from Charminar near Jama Mosque, the Arabs in Barkas were mostly from Hadhramaut in Yemen to join Nizam’s troops and administration.
Today, they keep their culture live by being a very careful community.
“The rights of marriage to funerals and other events, the living community is a way of life for Arabs.
Even in our food, we all eat on a large plate.

With men wearing Lungi and Amama and women wearing headscarves, Arabs have their identity they are proud of.
Traditionally, Arabs become a fruit and dairy fruit business.
Many Arab families are known to grow their own fruits on their pages and auctioning their products to retailers.
However, the community has now evolved with the younger generation to pursue higher education and enter business like real estate, construction, medicine, among others.
To promote Arabic culture, many also start authentic Arabic restaurants serving dishes such as bathing, ASEED, Haris, among others.
With a shower slowly gaining popularity in the city, is a larger Arabic population that continues to add to its unique feeling in not only cuisine but also hyderabadi culture.
“Barkas is home to many Arab restaurants that have gave birth to even other parts of the city.
The commercial area of ​​Barkas is a reflection of the Arab community living in the area,” said Ali bin Abdulrahman Bahazeq, who was born and raised in Barkas and now runs his own business at environment.
The Arabic population is also popular for their traditional medicine for jaundice, which is a herbal herb.
It is offered free in Barkas by ‘Jaundice Medicine Barkas’, a non-profit organization.
They have emphasized teaching Arabic to the younger generation and offer prayers in their mother tongue.
