The army gave a permanent commission for 147 SSC officers

New Delhi: A total of 147 officers of the additional short commission (SSC) of the Indian army have been given permanent commissions in accordance with the revised parameters set by the Supreme Court in March this year, the Ministry of Defense said on Wednesday.
The Supreme Court on March 25 has said the Army evaluation criteria to provide a permanent commission (PC) to women’s SSC officers systematically discriminated against them.

Therefore, the army has formed a special selection board on September 2020 to filter female officers.
The results were stated in November 2020.
Women’s officers who were not given a PC in November 2020 moved to the Supreme Court.
The top court in March this year found that “the evaluation criteria set by the army are systemic discrimination” to these female officers.
The Supreme Court, in the March order, put a revised parameter based on which women’s officers will be evaluated for the permanent commission in the Army.
