Guwahati: Delegation Unit Assam Congress, led by Rajya Sabha MP Ripun Bora, on Saturday filed a memorandum to Governor Jagadish Mukhi, demanding a judicial probe monitored by the Supreme Court on charges of reconnaissance.
Memorandum, aimed at President of RAM Nath Kovind, was submitted to Mukhi in Raj Bhavan here.
“It is very clear that Pegasus spyware is used by the BJP government against opposition to their political benefits,” Bora said.
“This illegal supervision uses spyware against opposition leaders, constitutional authorities, journalists and others are attacks on Indian democracy and violations of privacy rights,” he added.
Congress demanded a judicial investigation monitored by the Supreme Court to find out the role of government officials involved, said Bora.
He also demanded action against all officials found involved in illegal supervision.
Congress also demanded the resignation of the minister of the house of Union Amit Shah for this issue.
