Guwahati: Congress is ready to expel Mla Sherman Ali Ahmed, who was arrested last year after he called the Martyrs of the Anti-Foreign Anti-Foreign Movement (Assam Agamitation) ‘Ghataks’ (Killer), following the Dholpur evictions in the lower Assam of the Darrang District where hundreds Muslim migrants are expelled by administration to free government land.
Sherman is currently in suspension and has accused the party’s leadership at Assam for failing to raise his voice to support Migrant Muslims, known as Miya, who have lived for years in broad areas in lower districts.
In a reply submitted to Assam PCC President Bhupen Borah on Tuesday, MLA highlighted this problem.
PCC State on Wednesday dissolved all party committees in Baghbar represented by Sherman in the Barpeta district inhabited by a minority, which still has not been under the dominance of Safron.
Sherman’s episode may have a major impact on the minority field, where AIUDF Ajmal Badruddin has emerged as a strong political force, defeating Congress in several seats.
Aiudf can even welcome Sherman to come, but the congress is not ready to compromise with rebels.
“Sherman’s answer has been sent to the one-person disciplinary action committee, led by Bharat Chandra Narah.
We will take the final decision after getting a report.
But all organizational committees in Baghbar, including at the block and booth level, have been dissolved to change the party there, “Borah told toi.
Congress sources say strong messages have been sent to workers and party leaders who will not tolerate anyone who gives “least priority” for organizational work.
People in Congress said that sustainable membership encouraged the party had targeted to register 25,000 new members in the Baghbar constituency, but there was no urgency between those responsible for carrying out the task.
Sherman on Wednesday told the media, “they have lived here for more than a century.
I was warned by Congress that I could not speak for minorities.
Congress must clarify the stand whether he wanted Miya culture to be preserved in Kalakshetra.” Their ancestors (Muslims Migrants) come from Bengal Province (today Bangladesh).
Since 2020, Sherman has matured with Congress on this issue preserving Miya culture in Srimanta Sankardeva Kalashetra here.
The Grand Culture Culture Complex Report was established under clause 6 Agreement Assam 1985 promises “constitutional, legislative and administrative protection to protect, preserve and promote cultural, social, linguistic, and heritage of the inheritance of people”.
Sherman argues that the view of the Congress is not in consentance with the provisions of the agreement.
