Guwahati: Congress is ready to expel Mla Sherman Ali Ahmed, who was arrested last year after he called the Martyrs of the Anti-Foreign Anti-Foreign Movement (Assam Agamitation) ‘Ghataks’ (Killer), following the Dholpur evictions in the lower Assam of the Darrang District where hundreds Muslim migrants are expelled by administration to free government land.
Sherman is currently in suspension and has accused the party’s leadership at Assam for failing to raise his voice to support Migrant Muslims, known as Miya, who have lived for years in broad areas in lower districts.
In a reply submitted to Assam PCC President Bhupen Borah on Tuesday, MLA highlighted this problem.

People in Congress said that sustainable membership encouraged the party had targeted to register 25,000 new members in the Baghbar constituency, but there was no urgency between those responsible for carrying out the task.
Sherman on Wednesday told the media, “they have lived here for more than a century.
I was warned by Congress that I could not speak for minorities.
Congress must clarify the stand whether he wanted Miya culture to be preserved in Kalakshetra.” Their ancestors (Muslims Migrants) come from Bengal Province (today Bangladesh).
