Guwahati: The Assam government on Thursday denies that there is an economic blockade on the national highway to Mizoram through the Barak Valley because neighboring countries have reported to the center.
Railways NF on Thursday reported small damage to the train track which connected the Barrerabi in Mizoram but clarified that the train movement in the section had been suspended for some time since the Covid-19 outbreak.

There is currently no passenger train movement on this route because it has been suspended due to Covid-19 restrictions.

The Secretary of Mizoram Lalbiakedi’s house, while looking for immediate intervention from the center in his letter, has said that the damage to the train tracks and highway blocking has disrupted the movement of important items to the country.
“Unknown crimes from Assam have destroyed / removing the train tracks at Mohammedpur and Ramnathpur stations in Hailakandi District from Assam.
With this, the only train line that connects the Bairabi train station in Mizoram has been blocked,” Lalbiabriakedi wrote.

On Tuesday, local residents installed the national highway blockade towards Mizoram in Kabuganj in Cachar and Mahammadpur District in Hailakandi District in protest against the murder of the Assam Police by Mizoram police but the blockade was pulled the next morning.
