Gurgaon: The Ambience Mall U-Turn Underpass at Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway has missed another deadline.
The National Highway Authority (NHAI) is expected to open it to commuter on Friday.
Now, Nhai officials say it will be completed this month.
The latest deadline was announced by the Union Transportation and Highway minister, Nitin Gadkari, during a visit to Gurgaon last month.
Speaking after a job examination at Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, Gadkari has stated that the underpass will be disposed of on October 15 and will “provide assistance to people in Delhi and Haryana”.
“There are some delays, and we try to complete the job as soon as possible.
There are no major changes in the deadline.
Underpass will be completed in October,” said Nhai official.
“Paving from a fixed road, as well as some other work like lighting.
In addition, there is a little problem with the workforce too lately because of the celebration season.
We are working on underpasses and it will be finished in the next few days,” added official.
Commuter, meanwhile, revealed skeptics about revised deadlines.
“We have heard several times that the underpass will soon be opened, or that the date has been set for its settlement.
I have no confidence in the deadline set by NHAI or their claim,” said the island atmosphere of Partha Chatterjee, which must cross the Gurgaon border Delhi every day to reach his office in Cyber City.
Working on underpasses has begun in January 2019.
The structure is part of a broader project to reduce the freeway, with Libel U-Turn also built in Shankar Chowk.
The Flyover was opened for commuting in November last year.
NHAI initially had set a deadline of 18 months for the completion of the project, but officials said the work was delayed due to the Pandemic Covid-19 and the lack of the next workforce, repeated prohibition on construction due to high levels of pollution, waterlogging due to severe rainfall, and delay in shear Toll gate and other utilities.
