Gurgaon: Some gang members who steal newborns and sell them to couples without children are also involved in prostitution, the police investigating the racket has learned.
Until now, nine people have been arrested and three babies are saved from them.
While three gang members were arrested on Saturday, two more arrests were made on Sundays and four on Monday.
The police believed the gang had more members and had sent a team to neighboring countries to find out about them.
Gang, police said, will buy a newborn baby from a couple from a humble background and sell it to the “agent” in Rajasthan for Rs 1.5 lakh for a girl or Rs 4 lakh for boys.
The police are still trying to find out the number of babies sold by gangs until now and find some babies.
Of the three babies saved by the police, two were women who were less than a month while one was a four-month-old boy.
The couple who had sold their baby boy to a gang for 50,000 was among the four people picked up from Delhi on Monday.
However, the agreement by the gang to sell the boy failed when a pair without a child refused to accept it for skin color, police said.
The gang network, however, goes far outside the trading of children.
“Some female members are involved in prostitution racquets.
They are targeting a single partner and mother who is willing to give up their children for money,” An Officer said “They claim to buy a baby from a couple who cannot lift it.
But we also try to find out whether they are stealing.

The gang was exposed on Saturday when a taxi taxi driver from the city had driven directly to the DLF-3 police station and arrested two women and a man who had stolen two babies and planned to sell it to a pairless couple.
