The US has increased the largest one year at a record of murder in 2020, according to new figures released on Monday by the FBI, with several cities recorded the highest record.
Although big crimes dropped overall, an additional 4,901 murder was carried out by 2020 compared to the previous year, the biggest leap since the national record began in 1960.
a significant increase in murder has roughly coincided with 18 months of Covid-19 pandemic.
The high murder rate continued to 2021, even though the speed slowed down.
Overall, the victim was around 21,500 people died last year still below the record set during the early 1990s.
However, several cities, such as Albuquerque, Memphis, Milwaukee, Tulsa and Des Moines, recorded their highest murder numbers, according to the report.
A number of key factors encourage violence, including economic and social victims taken by pandemics and sharp increases in purchasing weapons and drug use.
The Head of Harold Medina from the Albuquerque Police Department quoted Covid-19, the fall of the protest of social justice, and guarantee reform efforts that in several cities saw more people who were imprisoned to release back to the streets as reasons for more violence.
Reports from the FBI, which sowed the crime number reported by nearly 16,000 law enforcement agencies throughout the US, also showed that wider murder.
Weapon violence claims the victim’s part is greater than before.
The wider geographical distribution is different from the past few decades, said Jeff Asher, a crime analyst.
In 1990, New York City and Los Angeles contributed 13.8% of US murders, compared with 3.8% by 2020, he said.
Murder so far this year has risen by around 10% from 2020 in 87 cities which are currently available, said Asher.
The pandemic is undoubtedly playing an important role, causing economic and mental pressure.
Millions of Americans have lost their jobs, business and in some cases their housing.
A sense of despair helps trigger friction and social crime.
Many also experience trauma losing loved ones.
This pandemic also means that the police department sometimes struggles with the number of officers under quarantine, while public services pandemics limit such mental health counseling and simultaneous related problems such as homelessness.
The report also broke the victims of murder with race, ethnic and sex, with 9,913 blacks killed in 2020, 7,029 white people, 497 from other races and 315 unknown races.
There were 14,146 men who were killed and 3,573 women.
Certain big cities come down from their worst years.
New York City experienced around 500 murders in 2020, compared with 319 in 2019, but the two figures were far below the worst year of the city, 1990, when there were more than 2,200.
Chicago has 771 murder last year, compared to around 500 in 2019 and 939 in 1992.
There were 351 murders last year in Los Angeles, versus 258 in 2019; The record was 1,010 murder in 1980.
The protest erupted after George Floyd’s murder was also an important factor, even though experts were different about why.
Some argue that the police, under intense supervision and demoralization, were withdrawn from several aspects of evil prevention.
Others provide emphasis on the public, showing that reduced respect for the police asking for more people to try to take the law into their own hands.
