Srinagar: The authorities on Thursday dug Mohammad Altaf Bhat and Mudasir Gul, two civilians were killed at the Hyderpora meeting, because he handed it to their families, officials said.
The bodies were excavated after sunset and would likely be handed over to their families at night, they said.
It would be the first time that a person was buried under the supervision of the police was returned to his relatives since the Pandemic Covid-19 outbreak in March last year.
The bodies, accompanied by a police team, were transferred to Srinagar from Handwara where they were initially buried, officials said.
