‘The body of Civic Chanda does not collect taxes on CSTP in 6 years’

Chandrapur: Official Chandrapur Municipal Corporation (CMC) is under the scanner on Thursday after it was found that the Civic’s body ignored the Super Thermal Power Station (CSTP) chandrapur property under its jurisdiction and did not charge a penny from the Mega power plant in the last six years.
The problem was revealed after the former chairman of the committee standing CMC Nandu Nagarkar along with CorCress Corporators looking for an explanation from Commissioner of Kota Rajesh Mohite about why no tax was collected at CSPP which had two units and dozens of buildings in CMC jurisdictions.
Deputy Commissioner, CMC, Ashok Gharate admitted that CSTP had not been taxed.
He claimed that was a matter of investigation.
“The assistant commissioner concerned has been ordered to see it.
Notification has been served for CSTP in this matter,” he said.
Mohite is not available for its comments on the phone.
Nagarkar claimed that during his term as chairman of the permanent committee, he had charged a local agency on CSPP while the construction of a new unit No.
8 and 9 are ongoing.
“RS18 Crore recovered from CSTP for two years starting from 2012,” he said.
“CMC conducted a property survey in 2014 to revise taxes but the CSTP unit was truly ignored and the building fell under the jurisdiction of the Civic body.
Why did one Sen not yet restored from CSTP in more than six years? It has a CMC income fee for an area of RS40 Crore, “said Nagarkar.
He claimed that the State Energy Minister had been told about this problem and looked for the RS10 Crore for the construction work of Chandrapur “because it was a citizen who suffered from severe pollution from CSTP”.
