Mandya: With the help of a team of bomb detection and disposal squad (BDDS), the district administration is exploring illegal mining areas in Babybetta to track explosives that are often found near the mining location.
Deputy Commissioner S Ashwathi led the BDDS team on Friday and detected stick gelatin, detonators, and other equipment disposed of in Chinakurali Village, Madrahalli and Honaganahalli.
He directed the officials concerned to identify and register cases of criminals who had thrown out explosives in the open space.
Four BDDS teams scan more than 1,000 hectares of land in Babybetta for explosives.
The district government decided to bind the BDD team to track and discard explosives after they were found dumped in several places.
To save people, Ctteebabybetta is overthrown by small villages and farmers using the area to graze their livestock, there is a chance that these explosives will be chewed by cattle, people can step or they can explode in heat.
To thwart the loss of humans and livestock, the BDDS team was called.
Operations will be made for three more days.
“There is a possibility of people or livestock losing life or experiencing defects if these explosives, most of them live, explode for any reason.
We have assigned the BDDS team to fully scan the area and collect and distribute explosives,” said a senior officer.
