Ballia: A 17-year-old boy who allegedly hung himself after failing to secure a good sign in the CBSE class council exam, police said on Wednesday.
The incident took place at his home in the Reoti area on Tuesday after the CBSE announced the board exam results, said Circle Officer (CO) Rajesh Kumar Tiwari.
Family members did not inform the incident to the police and migrated him on Tuesday night, said CO.
The boy had secured a 46 percent mark in the exam, following the one he took extreme steps, said Tiwari.

The council announced the results based on alternative assessment policies after the test was canceled considering the second wave of Covid-19 aggressively.
According to the policy, while 20 values for each subject are for internal assessments because every year, 80 signs are calculated based on student performance in various tests or tests throughout the year.
Schools are also asked to ensure that the sign given by them in consultancy with past school performance in the 10th Council exam.
