LONDON: The British court on Wednesday received a request by a woman who demanded Prince Andrew in the United States for alleged sexual violence to tell him about this case.
Virginia Guiffre alleged that Duke of York sexually attacked him when he was 17 years old, and underage under the law of US.
But Andrew’s lawyer said legal papers for cases in New York were not properly served and they would oppose US court jurisdiction in civil action.
The British and Wales High Court in London initially rejected the application by Guiffre’s lawyer to contact the second son of Queen Elizabeth II.
This then received a request after the Guiffre Law Team gave “more information” which was not determined, said the domestic association news agency in the UK.
“The High Court has received service requests under the Den Haag Service Convention”, which allows the state to request evidence in civil or commercial matters, he said.
“The legal process has not been served but the High Court will now take steps to serve under the Convention, unless the services are regulated by the agreement between the parties,” he added.
Duke’s lawyer questioned whether he had been told correctly about the action of the court at the pre-trial hearing in New York earlier this week.
The documents were delivered to the “Defendant’s last known address” at the residence of the windsor castle in West London, but not to Duke directly.
Andrew is currently with the Queen at the Balmoral Estate long distance in the northeast of Scotland, according to the newspaper report.
Guiffre is looking for unspecified damage from Andrew, who has denied he once met him and claimed a photo of a shared partner might have been doctors.
The former Navy Royal Helicopter pilot, 60, rarely seen in public because he gave a tv interview which was destroyed at the end of 2019, which forced him to get off the front line of the royal.
He was criticized for failing to distance himself from the deceased US investors Jeffery Epstein, who Guiffre said he traded him to have sex.
Epstein, who made a link with a number of celebrities and high profile characters, suicide while waiting for the trial on charges of underage sex trade.
