Pune: Start to maintain a public transport bus fleet, Depot in Kumbare Park in Kothrud is now a landfill.
The important site in the western region of Pune to park Pune Mahamandal Limited Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has become a sight.
Empty plots near the Metro Station and Depot Kothrud, are always filled with garbage, local residents’ claims.
The rampant bins on the property are alarming local residents, who are now approaching Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and PMPML for solutions.
They have asked the Civic body to clean the space so that residents do not face health hazards.
Civil officials said the appointment and processing of regular waste was being carried out here.
More awareness will be created to prevent people from throwing garbage in the open.
“My house is in front of the bus depot.
There is no safety wall or security guard to keep the depot.
It makes it easy for anyone to throw anything at any time.
Many times the garbage caught fire on the depot,” Amey Nerves said, regional residents.
Another resident of Girish Hasbanis said, “I live in the Vrindavan community, just a few meters from the station.
This place is full of old furniture and discarded consumer goods.
Many private vehicles are also parked here and they lie without monitoring for months.
“Yogita Patil, who regularly uses the bus stop to take advantage of public transportation, say,” men roam around here.
Many people sit and drink liquor openly here.
It feels not safe for us.
“According to PMC officials, space has been allocated for public transportation bodies.
“PMC is doing cleanliness there.
This place has been given to PMPML and has the main responsibility for maintenance facilities,” PMC officials said.
According to PMPML, the space is around 1.5 hectares under his ownership.
It is mainly used on parking buses, which ply from the Kothrud bus depot.
The private contractor bus is attached to PMPML services using the station.
The CNG bus is also parked in the depot, which has the capacity to accommodate 55 buses.
“Private contractors and solid waste management team should take care of that place,” said Dattatraya Zende, a senior official with PMPML.
“The instructions for removing waste from the place will be given to the contractor,” added the official.
