Bengaluru: Byappanahalli, the third train terminal in Bengaluru and the first air-conditioned in this country, everything will be opened for passenger movements in September, almost six months after completion.
Source of South Western Railway (SWR) said the minister of the Ashwini Vaishnaw Union Railway is likely to visit Bengaluru on September 1 and take a stock of progress.
“All the delayed jobs will be completed by the end of this month.
The inauguration is expected at all times in September,” SWR source said.
However, Head of Public Relations Officials Swr Hedge Aneesh said the date had not been confirmed.
While Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal (Terminal Around Third BYappanahalli) was ready in March 2021, the inauguration was postponed since the date of the Prime Minister was not accepted.
Source said the selection of assembly in four states, Covid’s second wave and a recently concluded parliamentary session was postponed.
Although the terminal was approved in 2015-16 to help the SWR operate more trains from Bengaluru should have been completed in 2018, deadlines were driven for various reasons.
The Crore RS 314 Station building spread across 4,200sqm will serve with 50,000 daily footsteps.
It has seven platforms other than eight stabling lines and three pit lines.
Every day, 50 trains can operate from the terminal.
Rob will be ready on September 15 another reason for the delay in the inauguration is the rail on an incomplete bridge.
Rob 810m-long proposed in 2010-11 to connect the Sir M Vesvaraya terminal and the Swami Vivekanda Metro station on Jalan Madras Old unfinished.
The work stopped in 2012 after the Ministry of Defense refused to hand over the land and continued seven years later.
This project is scheduled to be completed on June 20, 2020 but is delayed due to lack of workers after the pandemic struck.
Hedge said 85% of the work was finished.
“The revised deadline is mid-September due to the delay permit from the Ministry of Defense.
The BBMP has agreed to complete some work requested by the Ministry, which includes walls of compounds, toilets, watching towers etc.,” he said.
