The cabinet approved the Bharatnet optical fiber connection for this 16 state

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given approval to revise the Bharatnet implementation strategy through public private partnership mode in 16 states.
Countries covered under the approval of the cabinet today is Kerala, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, West West, Assam, Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.
An estimated 3.61 lakh village including Gram Panchayats will be borne.
The estimated maximum variability gap agreed for the PPP model is Rs 19,041 crores.
Bharatnet will now extend to all villages inhabited outside the gram of Panchayats (GPS), in these countries.
The revised strategy also includes the creation, improvement, operation, maintenance and utilization of Bharatnet by concession holders to be selected with a competitive international offer process.
The PPP model will utilize the efficiency of the private sector for operation, maintenance, utilization and income and is expected to produce a roll faster than Bharatnet.
“The selected concession holder (partner of the private sector) is expected to provide reliable high-speed broadband services in accordance with the previously determined service level agreement (SLA).
The extension of the range of Bharatnet to all villages inhabited by reliable, high-speed, high-speed broadband Allows better access from electronic services offered by various central and state government institutions, “the government said.
It is hoped that income will be generated from various sources including proliferation of broadband connections to individuals and institutions, selling dark fibers, cellular tower fiberization, e-commerce etc.
