Gurgaon: Two young men in the middle of the 20s sank after their car fell to the Najafgarh channel on the main road of Patudi early on Tuesday.
The accident took place on the outskirts of Gadoli Village at around 2:30 a.m.
when Keshav and Dharamvir, the two contractors from Paterdera and Dhanoda Mahendergarh, traveled from Patudi to Gurgaon to work at the I20.
In Gangus, which was built on the Najafgarh channel in Gadoli Village, Keshav lost control of the vehicle, following the fall into the sewer.
When the car electronic system does not work, all the doors are locked automatically, leaving the two men stuck inside.
A team from the 10 sector police office rushed to the place after being informed by commuter.
A crane is deployed to pull the car out.
Keshav and Dharamvir were taken to a civil hospital in sector 10, where they were declared dead.
Their body was handed over to their families after post-mortem.
Duo that is often used to often travel related to work to Gurgaon and adjoining areas, saying one of their relatives who came to the hospital.
“They left home from Mahendergarh early on Monday and should return on Tuesday.
It was a routine trip,” said Uncle Dharamvir Sudhir Kumar.
A spokesman for Gurgaon Police Subhash Benken said a case had been registered against an unknown person in the IPC 379 (Rash Driving) and 304A (death in an accident) at the Sector Police Station 10.
“Investigations are underway to find out the exact cause of the accident,” he added.
Police scan CCTV recordings from several cameras installed by personal individuals and GMDA for instructions, said a police officer.
He added that the driver might lose control when trying to turn to avoid hitting someone or another vehicle that came from the opposite side.
Sandesh Sharma, a resident who lives in sector 90 and often travels by stretching, saying the culverts are very narrow and without a protective wall on his side.
“Previously, there was very little traffic on this road but for a period of time, the number of vehicles here had increased significantly.
But the authorities did not make plans to improve or expand the culverts.
Infrastructure has failed to compensate for developments in the area,” He said.
