Gurgaon: In the case of hit-and-run in the city, Maruti Brezza in silver crashed into two scooters on Jalan Sheetla’s eyes near Atul Kataria Chowk, on Saturday.
The two riders were taken to the hospital, where they were declared dead.
According to the police, the car has a Uttarakhand registration number and the driver seems to have lost control of the vehicle.
The commuters on the accident site also added that the Brizzza driver escaped from the place immediately after the incident.
One commuter then told the police about the accident.
The team from the 14 sector police office rushed to the place and brought the two wounded riders to a civil hospital, where they were declared dead.
The construction of underpasses and flyovers is taking place in Atul Kataria Chowk and still clogged because of that.
Devender, the mechanic repair AC, said that his brother-in-law Sanjeev Kumar, resident Bheem Nagar, was on his way home on a scooter when Brizhza who quickly hit him from behind.
The impact of the collision was such that he was thrown into a distance and a sustainable head injury.
Based on his complaint, a case was registered at the Sector 14 police station under Section 279 (Rash Driving), 304A (Death in Accidents) IPC.
“The case has been registered, the police scan CCTV footage to identify the defendant,” said Subhash Police spokesman Benek, said.
Data on Traffic accidents revealed that around 35% of people who died in a Gurgaon accident in 2021 were riding a motorcycle.
9% of other drivers are on a scooter, while 3% of them drive cycles.
Pedestrians are almost 31% of the total fund fatality in Gurgaon last year.
In 2021, 409 people died in an accident on the road in the city, while 574 people were injured.
Of the 409 deaths – 125 are pedestrians, 144 is a motorcycle rider, 36 is a scooter rider and 13 is a cyclist.
